5 Reasons You Should Have An Essential Oil Diffuser

I am slowly seeking a more holistic and natural lifestyle; not just with my hair, I want an over all healthy lifestyle. After learning that oils like lavender help with sleeping and relaxation, I invested in an essential oil diffuser to get better rest better.

I have been using my essential oil diffuser for about 5 months now and I’ve learned how it improves my overall health as well as increases my energy. The list of all the possible uses for a diffuser is extensive. I wanted to share my top five reasons on why you should consider investing in an essential oil diffuser and use it every day.

1 – Rest and Relaxation

Essential oils are best known for their ability to help you relax and sleep. I suggest having a diffuser ready to go when you get home from work or after a long day. Keeping a diffuser near your bed will help your mind and body relax so you can sleep better {Recommended oils: chamomile and lavender.}

2 – distress

A diffuser can help you to distress and assist in improving your mood. Smell is the one of the strongest senses and can influence brain activity. When you’re feeling sad or depressed you can use your diffuser to enhance and inspire a positive mood.  {Recommended oils: sweet orange, jasmine, rose, sandalwood, and vanilla.}

3 – Helps Prevent Illness

Essential oils are known to be powerful antimicrobial (An antimicrobial is an agent that kills microorganisms or stop their growth) and when introduced into the air in vapor from, the organic compounds within the oils come into direct contact with airborne pathogens before they can invade your body. Secondly, essential oils can also be used to boost the immune system. Last but not least, some diffuser also double as humidifier which will help to keep your airways moist and healthy so you are less susceptible to any microbes (a microorganism, especially a bacterium causing disease or fermentation) that do make it into your body. {Recommended oils: tea tree, sage, rosemary, grapefruit, lemon, and thyme.

4 –Safer Alternative to Candles

Burning candles or incense can be a potentially hazardous especially if you have pets or small children due to the open flame. An essential oil diffuser allows you to reap many aromatherapy benefits – without the risk of burns, wax spills etc. {Recommended oils: Any/Personal Preference}

5 –Helps You Breathe Easier

I have learned that essential oils can help reduce inflammation and congestion to help you breathe better. During allergy season, I like to use eucalyptus oil and it has worked wonders for me. If you are prone to allergies, try diffusing essential oils in the room where you spend most time. {Recommended oils: Eucalyptus, peppermint, rosemary, or lemon.}

*The recommended oils are great for reducing inflammation and congestion in clogged airways to help you breathe more easily. If you are prone to allergies or other breathing disorders, try diffusing essential oils in the room (or rooms) of your home where you spend the most time. Just remember to keep a box of tissues handy as your nose and sinuses begin to open so you can also avoid that mad dash to the bathroom! {Recommended oils: peppermint, rosemary, lemon, and eucalyptus.}
