CurlBox Natural February 2017 | Unboxing & Review | Honey Baby Naturals

This edition of curlBOX Natural was loaded with full-size products from Honey Baby Naturals. The key ingredient in every product is honey to moisturizer and strengthen your curls; I would even recommend it for your little ones. This curlBox natural did not disappoint!

Honeychild Moisture Balance Gentle Shampoo

This is sulfate-free shampoo that includes a blend of honey and chamomile to help soothes the scalp for a relaxing wash day experience that also restores moisture to the hair and dry scalp.

Sweet Softening Conditioner

Creamy conditioner that is infused with a blend of milk protein and honey designed to help hydrate coils and curls days after washing.

Honey Shea Butter Hair Smoothie

With ingredients like honey, shea butter, coconut, olive, sweet almond, sunflower seed, jojoba and carrot oils that promote hair glow. This smoothie smells delicious and provide great curl definition!

Knot My Honey Instant Detangler

As a natural with tight coils, a good Detangler comes in handy and this formula melts the knots allowing fingers to glide right through with minimal tangles. It’s also serves as a lightweight leave-in and can be used for daily maintenance on re-twisting and many other styles.

15137516_10209675419260527_7106585025085094161_oWhen I opened this edition of curlBOX Natural I was overjoyed to see products from Uncle Funky’s Daughter. I have wanted to try Uncle Funky’s Daughter for years now; however, the brand seemed to almost disappear from the market due to the owners thinking of dissolving the company completely. However, in 2014 Renee Morris acquired the brand and began the work to revamp and revitalize the company and, boy, did she. You can learn more about that by reading her article at

mag_coverThis instalment of CurlBox Natural “Find Your Vive box was loaded with a host of versatile stylers from Uncle Funky’s Daughter, these products just right for refreshing or maintaining a hairstyle and adds that wow factor to 3 or 4 day hair. I found myself using the Thirsty Curls Leave-in Curl Revitalizer often. My hair was on point and just in time for fall trends.

curlBOX Natural March 2016 | Unboxing & Review | Mielle Organics

IMG_0720If you have been following my blog for any amount of time, you know how much I love getting curlBOX Natural. If you are new to my blog then you can learn more about curlBox by visiting: You can also check out my other subscription reviews including curlBox Body , curlBox Natural – Eden Body Works, and curlBox Natural – The Mane Choice.

curlbox_natural2It’s important to have a good regimen when you want ‘stuntworthy’ hair. This curlBOX Natural Volume XII delivers just that with a complete growth regimen from Mielle Organics. It was loaded with all-natural ingredients known to deliver including the vitamins needed to stimulate growth, cleansing and styling products to retain the length and strengthen hair. This box is so necessary to helping you reach those #HairGrowthGoals by building a regimen from Mielle Organics.

curlBOX Natural is a non-subscription hair beauty box ($40.00).

The March 2016 box breakdown

  • Healthy Hair Formula Vitamins ($18.99)
  • Detangling Co-Wash ($13.99)
  • Moisturizing Avocado Hair Milk ($15.99)
  • Mint Almond Oil ($13.99)

Mielle Organics Healthy Hair Formula Vitamins ($18.99)

Mielle Organics Healthy Hair Formula VitaminsVitamins are a critical factor in supporting hair growth internally. These pills include: Vitamin B1 & 2, Niacin (Vitamin B3), Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin, Biotin, Copper, Folic Acid, MSM, Niacin, Pantothenic Acid, and Zinc. That promote healthier, stronger, longer, thicker hair. I have not tried the Vitamins yet due to currently taking a multivitamin. Once I have completed this dosage I’ll give these a try. *Photo Credit:

Mielle Organics Detangling Co-Wash ($13.99)

Mielle Organics Detangling Co-WashAs a natural in the 4C category, it’s imperative to find a good detangler. One that not only makes it easy to use but actually works. This is good stuff, it’s a little lighter than I’d prefer. I tend to like my cream cleanser to be super think. My other detangler is awesome; however, this detangling co-wash is good. I love the fact that this is created to be used during the wash process, and helps prevent knots and tangles. (4-Stars) *Photo Credit:

Mielle Organics Moisturizing Avocado Hair Milk ($15.99)

Mielle Organics Moisturizing Avocado Hair MilkMy hair tends to be dry so I like to use a mix of creams and butters to lock in moisture. Avocado is known to add hydration and moisture to dry, thirsty hair and that’s just what this product did. I used the milk as a style refresher and my hair felt extremely hydrated and moisturized. (4-Stars) *Photo Credit:

Mielle Organics Mint Almond Oil  ($13.99)

Mielle Organics Mint Almond OilI was skeptical of this oil only because I have a nut allergy. However, I tested on the back of my hand and didn’t break into hives. I really like this Mint Almond oil, it may be a little strong for some; however, I found the oil to be very refreshing. I used it with my scalp invigorator and my scalp felt so good, well stimulated and worked a sealant for my strands. My scalp never felt dry. (4-Stars) *Photo Credit:

I purchased the March 2016 curlBox Natural for $40 included shipping. According to the total value  is approximately $62.96.

Influenster Cheers to You VoxBox Review

Influenster Cheers to You VoxBox Review

Its so much fun being an Influenster, who doesn’t like getting free items to review.

IMG_5815 copyI recived the Cheers to You! VoxBox, courtesy of Influenster i in January the products featured in this box included:

  • Dr. Teal’s Sleep Epsom Salt Lavender Soaking Solution
  • Suave Professionals® Sea Mineral Infusion Moisturizing Body Shampoo & Conditioner
  • Way Better Snacks Sweet Chili Tortilla Chips
  • Hormel Taco Meats (Free Coupon)

Dr. Teal’s Sleep Epsom Salt Lavender Soaking Solution

This epsom salt smells totally amazing. I tend to it when I want to relax. I really enjoy the way this product feels and smells. At the end of a very busy work week the Dr. Teal’s Sleep Epsom Salt Lavender helps me unwind.

Sauve – Sea Mineral Infusion Moisturizing Body Shampoo & Conditioner

IMG_7523I didn’t think I was going to like these product; however, I was pleasantly surprised. First, the scent is fantastic; reminds me of being near the ocean. The shampoo lathers very well and the conditioner has good ‘slip’ (the conditioner applies to the hair smoothly making the detangling process easier). With that said my hair is very very thick, very coarse, and needs lots of moisture. After using these products, my hair felt super soft; however, I prefer natural hair products that offer more moisture. I would recommend the shampoo and conditioner for anyone with less dense hair.

Way Better Snacks Sweet Chili Tortilla Chips

IMG_5821I didn’t care for the Sweet Chili flavor, all the spices were a little too strong for me.  However, I really like the ingredients: non-GMO corn, sunflower and/or safflower oil, sprouted seed, grain blend etc. Although I didn’t like this flavor; I would like the Sweet Potato flavor….

Hormel Taco Meats (Free Coupon)

I chose not to get this item because I prefer to not use pre-cooked meat. However if you do choose to try Hormel Taco Meats, I found some good recipes on Pinterest (Your welcome lol)

*All items listed in this blog post where received in the Cheers to You VoxBox from Influenster for free for testing and reviewing, however ALL opinions are my own.

  • Multi-Vitamin Scalp Nourishing Growth Oil ($11.99)

new-mantabolism-plus_medium_782c2f46-1f11-4958-bee6-0aee6f812980_largeThese vitamins supplements support hair growth from the inside out. I actually have two bottles. Received one in this box and one from a natural hair event. I’m excited to see how my hair transforms.  *Photo Credit:

The Mane Choice Multi-Vitamin Scalp Nourishing Growth Oil ($11.99)

Growth OilI used this oil so quickly, it feels so good on my scalp. The oil is known to help hair growth by stimulating slow and or inactive hair follicles. The oil is lightweight; perfect for scalp treatments. I used daily with my scalp invigorator to help sooth and massage my scalp.  *Photo Credit:

The Mane Choice Easy On The Curls Detangling Hydration Shampoo ($12.99)

I really love this shampoo, it’s hands down one of the best detanglers I have used. My hair is prone to single strand knots and is easily tangled. This shampoo made my wash day so much for effective almost eliminating the big knots and tangles. After shampooing I was easy about to comb through my hair.  *Photo Credit:

ConditionerThe Mane Choice Easy On The Curls Detangling Hydration Conditioner ($13.99)

The conditioner is very hydrating the blend of Biotin and Vitamin E left my hair shining. I almost wanted to leave it in. Along with the shampoo I was able to comb through my hair with ease. I also like the pleasant smell it was not to strong.*Photo Credit:

Conditoner 2The Mane Choice Soft As Can Be 3-in-1 Co-Wash, Leave In, Detangler ($12.99)

I was a little sceptical of this product because it’s 3-in-1. Most products that claim to have multiple benefits don’t work that well for me. However, I have found this to be everything it claims to be. The 3-in-1 serves as a pre-cleanse detangler, a creamy co-wash, and a daily leave-in moisturizer. My hair not only felt amazing it was soft and easy to comb through. Tried it as a rinse-out and leave-in, the results were both great although I prefer to use it a s leave-in. *Photo Credit:

I purchased the January 2016 curlBox Natural for $40 included shipping. According to the total value of products range from $61.98  to $77.95.  (YES it’s worth it!!)

ESSENCE® BeautyBox! Subscription Review

CNL _2015_-010 editBeauty boxes are my favorite!

I feel like I’m getting surprise gifts in the mail every month. Box subscriptions provide the opportunity to tryout some of the latest beauty products. The best part is discovering more about brands and new products.

What is the ESSENCE® BeautyBox?

The ESSENCE® BeautyBox is a service to help women of color discover beauty products. To honor and support the talents and entrepreneurial spirit within our community, each ESSENCE® BeautyBox will feature a product from an independent, Black-owned business.

The October 2015 ~ Inaugural Box

(I call this the Birthday Box because I’m an October baby).

101504Creme Brûlée | by Curls

As a kinky curly/natural girl, it’s alway great to get products I can use; however, this box had two items that may not for subscribers who are not natural. That being said I am VERY happy with all the items in the October box. The customization options will be great once implemented.

101501Coconut Shea Leave In Conditioner | by Eden Bodyworks

I received Eden Bodyworks in a different beauty box and fell in love with how my hair come out with the product. The best part about this items is that is travel size.

101503Shea Butter Hand Cream |  by L’occitane

In my opinion, you can never have enough hand creams, it’s great in harsh midwest weather. The one negative regarding this product is that it’s quite expensive; $28.00 for  5.2.oz,  and $12.00 1 oz.

101502Eternity Now |  by Calvin Klein

Such a great citrus scent! The fragrance was not overpowering and it last a long time.

101505The Brow Architect 3-in-1 |  by tarte

I have very thick and very full eyebrows so this product was not a great fit for me; however, I think it’s a perfect fit for people who need add a little something to their eyebrows

Overall, I really like this box. I will be using all but one of the products, yet it still gets 5-Stars.

The November 2015 ~ Surprise & Delight Box

prod_devacurlNo-Poo® and One Condition Decadence™ | by DevaCurl

I like that they provided the cleanser and conditioner, and not just one of the items. Overall, I’m a fan of DevaCural. I don’t use it often; however, I do like the way my hair feels after using. For now, I’ll save these items for when I travel.

prod_blackopalColor Splurge™ Luxe Matte Lipstick | by Black Opal

Nothing like a good red lip! This color looks great on me; however, I was just a little a disappointed with the size of this lipstick. Overall, I was pleased with the way it looks and feels.

prod_smashboxFull Exposure Mascara | by SmashBox

I only wear mascara once maybe twice a week so it took me a while to try, yet this mascara did not disappoint. Although it clumps a little I like the fact that my eyelashes have an extra pop of awesomeness!

prod_suaveProfessionals Moroccan Infusion Body Lotion | by Suave

I’m not really a fan of Suave products. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to try it or just give it away. For now it’s in my giveaway stach.

Hair Fragrance Mist | by Fekkai

At first i was like, what!!?! Fragrance for my hair? Then I realized it can be put to good use after a hot yoga class. Still haven’t tried it; however, I do think it has a nice scent.

Once again, I am happy with this box, I’m still on the fence about one of the products; however, I’ll still give ESSENCE® 5-Stars.

The December 2015 ~ It’s a Celebration box

Outlast Longwear Lipstick | by Covergirl |

Love! Love! Love, this color on me. I didn’t think it was going to work, but its does. It not your typical red lipstick because, it as an orange undertone with a great matte finish.

prod_veramooreshadowPearlized Eyeshadow | by Vera Moore
I have really been into golden/brown eyeshadows lately, and this color did not disappoint; it’s bold yet soft.

Mango Body Wash | by Boots Extracts

Love the smell and it feels good on my skin. It’s perfect for traveling.

Sacred Tiare Combing Crème | by Carol’s Daughter

I have to admit, I am skeptical about trying this product. The last time I tried a Carol’s Daughter hair product, my hair felt extra-dry and brittle afterwards. I’ll most likely use it ask a giveaway at an event.

Biotin and Collagen Conditioner | by OGX

I’m on the fence about using this. I feel like it’s a better fit for heat styled naturals, or non-naturals.

Bones Item: Egyptian Magic Cream | by Egyptian Magic

Best bones item ever. This product is, ‘everything’, it’s not greasy and feels great on my skin.

I was going to give this box 3 stars; however, the Egyptian Magic Cream makes this ESSENCE® box 5-Stars.

CurlBox Body Review

If you don’t already know how I feel about this curlBOX movement, Then I don’t know where you have been LOL 😀

I am such a fan of the curlbox line created my  Myleik Teele.  I have been inspired by Myleik’s raw uncut, tell it like she see it personality, her drive, business sense, passion, companies, book recommendations and podcast are top-notch.

When I learned that curlBOX was releasing a body vision non-subscription to the original curlBOX monthly subscription of hair products I was soooo excited. The first two boxes didn’t disappoint (well almost)! curlBOX body volume I  included Carol’s Daughter Almond Cookie line not bad I just didn’t enjoy the sent, however it made a great gift.  Below you will find a list of curlBOX body volume I  through volume III

curlBOX body volume I  had six full-size items that included (not all pictured):

  • Carol’s Daughter Almond Cookie Sulfate-Free Cleansing Gel
  • Carol’s Daughter Almond Cookie Dry Oil Body Spray
  • Carol’s Daughter Almond Cookie Shea Souffle
  • OGX Miracle In-Shower Oil
  • Secret Clinical Strength Clear Gel
  • Harlem Soap (Patchouli & Lavender) * MY FAVORITE ITEM in this box.

curlBOX Body Volume II included five full-sized items and a duel sample pack.

  • Olay Moisture Outlast Ultra Moisture Bar
  • Shea Moisture Superfruit Complex Hand & Body Scrub
    • w/ Body Wash & Lotion sample
  • Palmer’s Eventone Sun Care Collection:
    • Moisturizing Sunscreen for Face
    • Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion
    • Moisturizing Sunscreen Balm

There are so many benefits to box subscriptions like curlBox Body. These boxes allow the opportunity to try a variety of beauty products at a great cost. *CurlBox body  is NOT a monthly  subscription box  as of yet

……  AND now this is the third installment of curlBOX body:

curlBOX BodyVolume III November 2015:  Site description:

Dropping temperatures mean more layers, ESPECIALLY for your skin. Lucky for you, volume III of curlBOX Body is stocked with everything you need to keep skin smooth, supple, and infuse with MAX moisture all winter long. This is NOT a subscription box (YET).

I couldn’t agree more the dry harsh midwest weather requires lots of moisture. Ever since I received the Harlem Soap (Patchouli & Lavender) in the first curlBOX body, I have been enjoying using natural soap bars in place of body wash. I was really looking forward to trying the two soap bars that came in volume III.

Jolie Bloom Royal Oats Shower Bar  ($10.00) has real oats in it and I just love that,  however the scent was a little overwhelming.  After visiting Jolie Bloom site I decided to get the WAKE UP: Coffee And Cane Sugar Scrub, Ill let you know what I think on a later blog.

TGIN Natural Soap Olive Oil with Shea Butter + Olive Oil (Sugar Pear) $4.99  is a winner for me.  The soap feels great on my skin and the smell is just right. I have been looking forward to trying some TGIN products for a while and was super excited to see the soap in my box.

I have not used the Egyptian Magic All Purpose Skin Cream ($26.00 for 2-oz jar). I  yet I have heard mostly good things. I’ll be sure to keep you posted!

I am pleasantly pleased with Cantu Softening Body Butter ($9.99), I must admit I’m not a big fan of the Cantu hair-line however the body butter is great, I  really like the texture and soft sent.

The Shea Yeleen Shea Butter Cream – Vanilla Almond ($14.25) feels good on my skin however the sample was not enough ill have to purchase a full size to give it a real review.

I’m not a fan of OGX Nourishing Coconut Oil Weightless Oil Body Mist ($6.99 ) I don’t have anything bad to say its just not a product I liked using. I prefer to used a mix of Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E and Essential Oils. That being said I really like Bolden Shea Oil I found the mint sent to help give me a boosts energy.

The Bolden Shea Oil – Butter Mint ($29.50) this oil is amazing the small is a great pick me up in the mornings.

Hope you enjoyed this review, overall I have been pleased with my curlBOX body products. I enjoy being exposed to companies/products I never head of. The best part is being able to try out some items on my list. See below for more information on the products mentioned:

All opinions regarding these products are my own. All products mentioned in this blog post were purchased as part of a non-monthly subscription in which I purchased. This is not a paid nor sponsored post. For additional information on how to get curlBOX visit:

Better late then never 😀 finally getting around to using my July 2015 curlBOX Natural. This edition included a cleanser, a masque, conditioners and more from the all-natural EDEN Bodyworks Coconut Shea Collection.

IMG_0464My first impression of the box was excitement, I have wanted to try the EDEN Bodyworks line after receiving a sample packet at a natural hair meetup in Detroit. The sample packet left a good impression yet wanted to try out  more options for the full experience.

curlBox Natural is a quarterly subscription box made up of 90-100% natural ingredients. The box included five full size EDEN Bodyworks  products and a few sample products from Qhemet Biologics.

*Pictured Q-Redew, curlBox Natural box, Scalp Massage Shampoo Brush, Large wide tooth comb, Denman brush and EDEN Bodyworks Coconut Shea Collection. Not pictured Qhemet Biologics samples.

1. shampoo_1024x1024

Product Received: Coconut Shea Moisture Shampoo  ($8.99) Size: 8 oz

Product Description: Sulfate free & mild cleanser that restores moisture to hair, a gentle cleanser for all hair types.

Review: After washing my hair felt clean and fresh, the smell is not my favorite. However will use again.  The slip was nice and felt good on my scalp.

3. Coconut Shea Hair Masque _1024x1024

Product Received: Coconut Shea Hair Masque  ($8.99) Size: 16 oz

Product Description: Penetrates hair shaft to transform dry, brittle hair through an intensely moisturizing botanical blend of Coconut Oil and Shea Butter to deliver softer, stronger hair.

Review: This was my FAVORITE!!I Love the way natural curls look while the product was in my hair and work well for detangling.  I let the product sit on my hair for about 20 mins and used my Q-Redew to help lock in the moister. I will defiantly use this masque again and buy this product again.

2. leave-in-conditioner_1024x1024

Product Received:  Coconut Shea Leave In Conditioner  ($8.99) Size: 8 oz

Product Description: Daily conditioning treatment formulated with Coconut Oil, to penetrate and revitalize tresses. Blended with Shea butter to seal in moisture. Sulfate free formula is safe for color treated, chemically treated, curly, or straight hair.

Review: This leave-in was okay my hair did feel moisturized and soft after applying however I prefer to use my SheaMoisture’s Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner, as my leave-in.

4. coconut-elixir-2_a50706c0-daf5-4602-ae17-a3f2764ce458_1024x1024

Product Received: Coconut Shea Styling Elixir  ($8.99) Size: 4 oz

Product Description: Prevent frizz with a daily application of this moisturizing conditioning serum made from an exotic blend of all natural ingredients. Leaves hair soft, sleek, and shiny!

Review: I used this as my styling cream while twisting my hair, it worked well. My hair felt good when I took out the twist also use on day two hair to refresh the twits. I think it works better on my dry hair.

5. coconut-oil-main_1024x1024

Product Received: Coconut Shea Hair Oil ($8.99) Size: 4 oz

Product Description: Strengthens hair, prevent breakage, and add shine without oily buildup.

Review: I used this oil as a sealant in conjunction with the styling elixir and while taking out my twist to reduce frizz. I really like the oil. The smell is light and my hair had great shine.…if only it came with a spray option; that would be awesome.

Product Fragrance:

This smells like creamy coconut.  The smell didn’t linger on my hair however overall a pleasant sent.

Product Texture:

Thick and creamy. (I have ‘4c hair’ and prefer to use heavy products and this was just right for me!

Final thoughts

On a scale of 1 to 5, I give this product a 4 ,  because I wouldn’t necessary buy all of the items again. Overall I like the products they worked well and would you recommend giving it a try for yourself.  I would repurchase the Hair Masque and oil again,  my hair felt soft and moisturized.
