INHMD – International Natural Hair Meetup Day {Benton Harbor, Michigan}

IMG_2693On Saturday, May 21, 2016 I attended International Natural Hair Meetup Day (INHMD). Hosted by Serenity’s Hair (Dashuna Broyles) in Benton Harbor, Michigan. INHMD is an annual one-day event where women gather in over 50 cities, in 5 countries, spanning over 4 continents, all on the same day. This year’s event was presented by made beautiful-logo (the title sponsor).

INHMD purpose is to allow the opportunity for women across the country to meet in their own communities while networking, sharing, and meeting (virtually) other women across the country participating in meet-ups on the same day.

Sereniy HairjpgDashuna Broyles of Serenity’s Hair hosted the Michigan  location in Benton Harbor.  She did a wonderful job with this meet-up. The focus for this event included: length and moisture retention, heat-free and protective styling, and showcase hair products and styling tools to assist with your future styling needs.

INHMD CaresOne of the event highlight was INHMD Cares a philanthropic initiative that focused on Heart Health/Disease Awareness and Blessing Bags for the Homeless. Dashuna talked about the importance of heart health. Attendees also had the opportunity to either donate financial when purchasing ticket or bring travel size toiletries to be given to a local homeless shelter.

Doors opened at 5:00pm with an hour of mix and mingle, attendees also had the opportunity network with other naturals, shop with local vendors and have refreshments. The formal program began around 6:00pm with an icebreaker, more vendor shopping, the Panel Discussion included Josephine White, Betty Fudge-Fisher, Shanequa Kemp, and Mona Banks, a Live Music Performance featuring Yolanda Lavender. Every attendee received a Swag Bags and there were lots of fun raffles.

PS. Congrats Dashuna on your recent engagement!!
