Lovin My Natural Hair, Product & Style Workshop

As a Natural Hair Enthusiast I believe in the importance of taking care of yourself inside and out. I created ‘Lovin My Natural Hair’ after teaching my first natural hair segment at Confident Living. A seminar dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs to get unstuck and unlock their dreams. Lovin My Natural Hair workshops are decade to empowering women and girls showing them that natural hair is more than just wearing your hair in its natural state.

As a result of ‘Lovin My Natural Hair‘ I have the opportunity to work with a local Social Services Agency teaching an Ethnic Hair Care Training for foster and adoptive parents. Foster parents frequently feel unsupported and, uneducated on the importance of hair care in the African American community. The workshops focus on product demonstrations, product recommendations, and Hair care tips.

The Natural Hair workshop was AMAZING and very informative!!! I learned quite a bit, but one of the biggest things I learned is that going natural is very doable. Prior to going to the workshop, the idea of going natural was intimidating (it still is…but not nearly as much). I think this class is needed because it provides a lot of good information. It’s one thing to look up how to go natural online and search for tips that way…but it’s so much better to get the information and tips from someone who’s done it and knows whether or not things work, first hand. I’m adopted, and this information would’ve been extremely helpful to have when my adoptive parents were raising me. One reason is because it would’ve prevented the years of damage that has been done to my hair. African American hair is not easy to maintain…so having an understanding of the care it requires is important (whether you’re a parent that wants to learn how to take care of your child’s hair or if you want to learn how to take care of your own hair). I’m definitely going to Aleka’s other workshops…and I highly recommend that anyone else looking to go natural go as well!!! ~ Jasmine

Lovin My Natural Hair is a workshop focused on gathering people of all hair types: curly, wavey, coily, kinky and loc’ed naturals. I created this workshop in an effort to provide curlpiration and share my mistakes and successes in this journey.I’ll talked about the pros and cons of natural hair and all the stages I experienced and sometimes still go through on my journey.

Giveaways where provide by Confident Wear, Jessicurl, ECOCO INC. and MopTop Hair, in support of Lovin My Natural Hair’ and ‘Ethnic Hair Care Training’s. Everyone’s hair is unique them! My goal is to share some basics in hair care and styling from my personal experiences and encourage you to LOVE YOUR HAIR!

The natural hair workshop was an amazing experience. As someone who has been natural for nearly a year I came completely optimistic about the quality of information I would take away from the workshop. Outside of the time allotted for us to really fellowship and share real life experience , I found most beneficial the product display and live demonstration of “how to”. Although we all have different types of hair I felt that this workshop provided maintenance tips and and promoted overall hair health.  I will definitely attend the second session! – Cierra
