#MICHELLETAUGHTME | Lessons Learnt from Former First Lady Michelle Obama

As First Lady Michelle Obama leaves The White House but never our hearts, I had to take a few moments to show major love, respect, and honor. She has inspired and encouraged me in so many ways; I really appreciate her intelligence, passion and style. She is clear about her values and what she believes in. Thank you First Lady Michelle Obama for the many lessons you have taught me.

She knows how to rock a bright colored, cinched waist dress and lets not forget about her arms! We all know she is an advocate for exercise which keeps her looking stunning in just about everything.

What I have learned most when it comes to style is to not be afraid of prints. She really knows how to rock a vibrant-bold print shamelessly. As a curvy girl I am always looking for style inspiration and I love that Lady Obama doesn’t hide her shape, she shows her curves off with class and dignity.

hairHAIR: I may prefer to rock my natural curls; however, Mrs. Obama has proven that straightened hair can be just as versatile. I love everything about her ever-changing style from a sleek bang, to her signature bob, a classic updo, or even soft curls.

The unfailing love she shows her husband and daughters: President Barack Obama, Malia, and Sasha and the respect she has for her mother, Marian, is such an amazing example of what it means to keep family first. (“My first job in all honesty is going to continue to be mom-in-chief. Making sure that in this transition, which will be even more of a transition for the girls… that they are settled and that they know they will continue to be the center of our universe.” –Michelle Obama)

That your word is your bond, that you do what you say you’re going to do. That you treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don’t know them and even if you don’t agree with them.”– Michelle Obama.  That is still one of my favorite to date. (1)

We saw her plant and grow vegetables that were used to make the first family’s meals and prepare for White House dinners. “And let’s be clear: It’s not enough just to limit ads for foods that aren’t healthy. It’s also going to be critical to increase marketing for foods that are healthy.” –Michelle Obama (2)

These are just a fews ways Mrs. Michelle Obama has inspired me; I could go on for days. As as we say farewell to our First Lady, I hope that she continues to inspires us in new ways.
